THE ONLY THING ‘BUZZY’ ABOUT THE STOMPNORTH MIDGIE IS THE BEASTIE IN THE LIGHT, THE REST IS ALL CLEAN BOOST OR ALL CLASSIC CRUNCH!

MIDGIE BOOSTER OVERDRIVE

  • • Boutique clean boost or classic overdrive pedal

  • • Choice of germanium or silicon circuits for tonal variety

  • • True bypass

  • • Jupiter brand capacitor for great tone

  • • Handmade and handwired in Scotland

  • • Authentic Scottish midge in the indicator light

Midgie is designed as your always on pedal. Whether goosing the input of your amp, or creating some vintage crunch with either the silicon, or germanium diodes, Midgie is your starting point.

Midgie responds to all the settings of your amp and guitar; it stacks beautifully with other pedals, and will create amazing tones combined with your amp’s own distortion. The Si, and Ge diodes have distinct flavours: Si is more even and brittle, while Ge is thicker and squidgy. Midgie is unashamedly low gain, making it very transparent, and responsive. The effect tails off at an almost identical rate to the volume of your guitar, meaning the overdrive sound doesn’t stutter and drop out as with some pedals. It also never overpowers your guitars, just makes them sound awesome.

VOL This is a master volume control used to trim the final output level.

Si/Ge – BST This switch selects between Silicon and Germanium flavours of overdrive, or boost. In BST position, Midgie is a max 21dB booster.

GAIN This control works dynamically with the OD control, and sets the upper limit of gain. ODThis control controls the amount of overdrive, when using Si/Ge modes and contributes to the overall output of the pedal when in BST mode.

The Midgie Crystal
Just for fun I cast four genuine culicoides impunctatus – or Scottish Midgies into the indicator light. This is your mini beast status indicator. When glowing “Thistle Green”, your Midgie is active. When extinguished it is in True Bypass.

All pedals are hand assembled by just two hands (mine). Each of the components has been sourced and selected purely on its sound. Not price or size, just sound. Each have been soldered in line, to create the boost and crunch at your foot, that you won't find anywhere else.

Please note that since these photos were taken, I've now done away with the option of battery power. My little bit for the environment.
